Dr Siqin (Sisi) Wang is Associate Professor at Spatial Sciences Institute, University of Southern California, US, double afflicted to University of Queensland and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia as Adjunct Associate Professor. Her current professional roles include service as the Associated Chair of the Spatial Data Lab affiliated with Harvard Centre for Geographic Analysis and visiting scholar of MIT Sensable City Lab. Her research interest is computational social science and human-environment interactions via GeoAI and advanced spatial simulation, where she has 100+ publications. Her work were funded by US NIH, NSF, Japan Society of Promotion of Sciences, Australian Urban Research Institute and Network, and IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) chapter of Morocco. She was awarded as Geospatial World 50 Rising Stars, International Geographic Union - Modelling Geographical Systems Commission (IGU-MGSC) Excellent Young Scholar Award, and Top 20 Global Frontier Science and Technology Young Scientist Award, and the US Presidential Volunteer Service Award.

讲座简介
This talk focuses on human-environmental interaction, covering the research outcomes of 10+ multi-disciplinary projects led by Dr Wang. In the human side, Sisi’s work extensively utilized crowdsourcing human observation data (e.g., social media data and mobile signal data) and GeoAI techniques to quantify human behaviors in different geographic contexts – the public’s mental reaction to the pandemic and their options to COVID vaccination in Australia, US and 218 countries globally as well as people’s suicidal ideation in Japan. In the environmental side, Sisi’s team developed a tri-environmental (social, built and natural environment) conceptual framework and utilized Earth observation data (e.g., remote sensing imageries, open street maps, street view data) to quantify tri-environment and complex confounders involved in the human-environmental interaction. She led the Spatial Data Lab team affiliated to Harvard Center for Geographic Analysis to develop 90+ open-access datasets in Harvard Dataverse with more than 2 million downloads, 70+ repeatable, reproducible and replicable (RRR) workflows with more than 6,000 downloads. She initiated the SDL internship/fellowship program, involving 100+ students in 20+ countries.
